BAI, Mysore centre was established during the year 1987; with a humble beginning of just 35 members we now have a membership of around 170. We over the years have believed that innovation is the corner stone of success, we also realized that Leadership and team building can be driven by mega events and hence we have three of them every year, MYREALTY a mega property show, MYBUILD - a mega construction exhibition having more than 150 exhibitors and BUILDTECH - an international technical seminar with more than 600 delegates. These events are relentlessly churned out year after year by different teams yielding us excellent leaders and helping us immensely in team building. We have an annual two day training program for emerging leaders to prepare them for the challenges ahead. We strongly believe that beside every successful man there has to be a woman and hence we created a platform for our spouses, to indulge in supportive activities, by launching SPOORTHI, our ladies wing. When we saw an alarming decrease of interest in civil engineering with most of the students jumping into the IT band wagon, we launched SHILPI, the one and only student’s wing of BAI in engineering colleges around Mysore. We are now in the process of incubating SAAYA, a platform for our children to be involved in our activities. Other than these activities we have a slue of programmes spread across the entire year with an event every week. Engineers Day, Teachers Day, May Day, world environment day etc. are celebrated with grand events. Our Builders day programme is a daylong affair with a variety of programmes culminating in a grand evening get-together. We have more than 15 family get-togethers in a year, talent nights at least twice in a year. Picnics, outstation visits, overseas tours are always family events. We have an annual sports meet and have an energetic cricket team! Builders’ Charitable Trust was formed for the welfare & training of the construction fraternity. Under its aegis a plot measuring 16,000 Sft. was acquired in a prominent area at prevailing market rates and after a lot of effort we finally have a beautiful building spread over 7000 sft. to house our office, training center, medical dispensary for construction workers, board room etc.
Beyond concrete structures BAI, Mysore believes in stronger human bonding. We strongly believe that the pillars on which the construction industry stands are its very own workforce. Comprising mostly of illiterates or school drop-outs with a rural background; these workers have a dream - A dream of giving their children better opportunities to move up in life. At BAI, Mysore, we are chipping in with our best efforts like providing for admission fees, books & uniform-sets to children of workers of all BAI members; to ensure the continuity of their education, in June, an event Pratibha Puraskar is planned, honoring the meritorious students with cash awards and certificates. We also have an annual sports meet for the workers & their families; an Annual medical health check-up and follow-up for the same. An artisan training centre is coming up in its own building. More welfare plans are in the offing & will be deployed in due course of time.
